Paving the Way to a Brighter Future

Tyson was a dedicated athlete who had grown up playing sports—baseball, track, wrestling—but his true passion was football. Tyson was starting defensive end for the West Valley Eagles 2018 Varsity Section Championship team. At the time of his passing, he was leading the Northern Section in sacks and had set a personal goal to have the most sacks in a season for the Section. Tyson’s last play on the gridiron was a strip-sack and fumble recovery. Very fitting for a young man that worked to make a name for himself on the defensive side of the ball.

Tyson loved to be outdoors and could often be found hanging out around any kind of water. He spent most of his time with family, friends, and his dog Rosco. He loved cooking, watching movies, reading, and being barefoot any chance he got.

Tyson Wacker was involved in a fatal vehicle accident on his way home from a workout at the gym in 2018. Tyson, just 16 years old at the time of the accident, was a junior at West Valley High School in Cottonwood, California. He was smart, outgoing, and had a heart of gold. Although he loved to joke and laugh at times, Tyson was serious about helping anyone in need whenever possible—a real gentle giant.

The Fund was formed in late 2018 after Tyson’s passing and its’ sole mission is to support student-athletes in the local community on their journey as they strive to achieve greatness, just as Tyson Wacker did. We want to honor Tyson’s hard work, dedication, and spirit of giving by providing financial support to athletes in need—in the name of Tyson Allen Wacker.
